Writing is a journey—into life, meaning, memory, and the yet-to-be-discovered.
Poetry
I took my first poetry class in high school, and have been composing ever since. Today, I keep up with poetry exploration through independent reading and study and by participating in the University of Pennsylvania’s open-access ModPo program. In my own writing, I reflect on nature, humanity, and the ways we shape and are shaped by culture.
Fiction
For many years, my fiction writing was focused on writing plays. Today, I have a daily practice of writing fiction in prose and am in-progress finalizing two short stories for publication and beginning work on my first novel-length work. I have studied fiction writing through Gotham Writers’ Workshop in New York.
Essays, Articles, & Reviews
My nonfiction writing has been featured in PopMatters, Gnovis, The Journal Newspapers, Detroit Design Week, and more. I also have worked as a writer and editor for nonprofit organizations including AARP, Bowery Residents Committee (BRC), BrightFocus Foundation, Meyer Foundation, National Education Association, and The Wilderness Society.
